QTW 35 - Missing File Error When Installing QTW (1-July-95)

Q When I attempt to install QuickTime for Windows 2.0 on my 486 PC, I get this message:

Could not open the file QTW\Bin\MCIQTW.drv'.

I can't find the MCIQTW.drv file anywhere in the unzipped version of QuickTime for Windows 2.0.1. What should I do?

A When unzipping the QuickTime for Windows 2.0.1 archive file, you have to append a "/d" (without the quotes) to the command line. If you don't use this option, the directories needed for QuickTime for Windows 2.0.1 are not created. For best results, make sure that you unzip the files to a floppy drive. Run Setup.exe from within Windows to install QuickTime for Windows. Note that the unzip tool has to create directory structures while it decompresses.
